"Tessie" was a song from a musical which was sung by Boston's Royal Rooters, who were like the ballclubs unofficial fan club back in the early 20th century, long before the term Red Sox Nation was in the baseball lexicon. JFKs grandpappy, John "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald, was a Royal Rooter. Next week we'll learn about the expression "Out of leftfield".
